We came across a great article on The Upside Life, reminding us of the easiest ways to stay active without consciously doing exercise! Besides… who wants to waste their weekends in front of the TV?!
Accidentally on Purpose
We can’t bear the thought of wishing away your weekend indoors, which is why we want you to join us by making the most of your surroundings. What better way to spend your time, than staying active with non-workout-workouts! Whether you’re spending your weekend at home or enjoying a sneaky interstate escape, we have the perfect activities to keep your body and soul warm this winter.
Neutral Bay Bowls Club – Sydney
Picture this: kicking off your shoes, giving your feet freedom to frolic in the grass and slowing down to allow your body to move at its own pace. Neutral Bay Bowls Club offers free barefoot bowls on Sundays so there is no excuse not to get out and about and let your competitive side shine through. We found there was a lot of fluke rather than skill involved, but you’re sure to have a great time.
If you’re in the area and fancy an early dinner, Ryo’s Noodles serves the most delicious Ramen you will find in Sydney. Don’t let the hole-in-the-wall size of this restaurant fool you, what it lacks in size, it makes up for in flavour and authenticity which certainly will not disappoint.
New Farm – Brisbane
It’s so easy to get caught up in your busy life that you forget how nice it is to focus on the simple things. Spending the day at the park doesn’t have to be for the kids, basking in the sun by the water nestled amongst beautiful blooms has never sounded so appealing.
When the winter sun comes out to play, New Farm Park in Brisbane is laden with picnic rugs and activities creating the perfect leisurely atmosphere. Not only can you indulge in your cheese and wine, you can get your daily dose of endorphins with old favourites such as: Grip Ball, Bocce or test out your Frisbee skills (it’s all in the flick of the wrist).
The modern pub-crawl
A bit of everywhere – Melbourne
It’s no secret that Melbourne is on top of their restaurant and bar game, giving you all the more reason to explore. Channel your inner New Yorker vibes by starting your rooftop hop at The Emmerson in South Yarra, making you way to Bourke Street to the enchanted Madame Brussels & the Loop Roof Bar. If you’ve still got energy to burn, our next suggestion is The Wolf’s Lair in Carlton finishing off at Naked in the Sky in Fitzroy. The beauty of your rooftop hop is that you’ll get your joints moving and blood pumping with a mini workout getting around to each bar.
