Lark Cafe was a great find. Tucked away from Main Beach is offers just about everything. They offer breakfast, lunch AND dinner and also have some basic goodies no one can live without (bread, milk and the newspaper)!
It was a tough choice and it doesn’t often happen but I ended up getting the daily special. The Healthy Start Breakfast – Rye Toast, Poached Eggs, Avocado, Tomato and Cottage Cheese $14.50. It was the perfect simple start although I don’t know if the cheese was necessary.
We also tried the Sweet Corn & Zucchini Fritters – with avocado mash, poached egg, tomato relish, rocket, bacon and red onion $18. These looked very impressive when they arrived unfortunately the fritters were not as crisp as anticipated.
Another one from the specials board was the Hangover Burger – fried egg, bacon, a potato hash cake and barbecue sauce on a sesame bun $16.
The Avocado Bite was spectacular it was an avocado mash with sourdough toast, two poached eggs, feta, dukkah, balsamic roasted tomatoes and a drizzle of olive oil $16. I think there was a little bit too much going on here for a cafe style brekky. Maybe it could go without the tomatoes?
The food cabinet was filled with delicious vegan, gluten free and naughty slices!
The coffee was drinkable. They also serve a variety of cold drinks and juices.
Lark is another counter service cafe. A trend I am regrettably getting used to but I do still expect friendliness when ordering which I didn’t get from the staff here. Our meals arrived at different times as well. Also for dine in customers we were asked to use the Drinks Station to get our own water which is okkkkkkk but we got the water in doctors surgery take away cups.
Lark is on the corner of Stafford Avenue and Main Beach Parade just back from Main Beach. The cafe is open planned and breezy. They have big wooden chairs out the front for those with dogs. Overall it had a nice relaxed feel.
The Verdict: Lark was a nice little local cafe for a weekend brekky. They are open 7 days and serve dinner Friday – Sunday! Overall 6/10.
