DASH was created to help people with lower their dangerously high blood pressure. Hypertension otherwise known as high blood pressure is the most common and highly preventable disease and stroke in Australia. But what research has found is not only those people with high blood pressure but everyone can benefit from the diet or lifestyle change.
Here is the diet in a nutshell:
- Eat more fruits, vegetables and low fat dairy
- Cut back on foods that are high in saturated fat, cholesterol and trams fat
- Eat more whole grain foods, fish, poultry and nuts
- Limit sodium, sweets, sugary drinks and red meats
