Lately, we have been asked a number of questions as to the benefits of essential oils and also how to distinguish the reputable brands from the others.
After doing a bit of research on the chemicals in our everyday products (e.g. perfume, soaps, house cleaning products etc.), we decided to slowly throw out as much of these harmful products as possible and replace them with natural products. A lot of these products in our daily skin care regime contain xenoestorgens. Xenoestrogens are basically environmental oestrogens that come from pesticides and plastics, causing massive health implications like hormone disruptions. Soon we’ll be putting up our recipes on how to make natural perfumes and face creams that contain all natural products with some amazing essential oils for therapeutic action and aromatherapy.
Buying Essential Oils
When purchasing essential oils, it is important that you read up on reviews to make sure that the product you’re getting is quality. Earlier this year, doTERRA and Young Living were accused of mislabelling. As these two companies are some of the leading ones in the market, a lot of people were left confused and unsure about quality assurance. Our go-to brand is InEssence Aus. Their essential oils are 100% pure, listed with the TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration), used based on their therapeutic actions, obtained from reputable sources and most importantly do not contain any artificial fragrances and are not tested on animals.
Lately I have been using my ultra sonic vaporiser each night before bed. I usually set it for an hour before bed and leave it on for 2 hours after. I use the ‘Sleep Easy’ blend to help calm my nervous system and switch off my mind before bed. This blend contains about 5 herbs but in particular 3 of my favourites:
Lavender (Lavendula officinalis) – A natural anxiolytic and antidepressant
Chamomile (Chamomilla recutita) – Anti-inflammatory and mild sedative
Valerian (Valerina officinalis) – Anxiolytic, mild sedative and hypnotic
Instead of lighting a candle that has potentially harmful chemicals in it, why don’t you switch to a beautiful essential oil blend.
